The International Office of the European Student Think Tank is the body with representation from ambassadors in EU member states. The International Office oversees our team of Ambassadors. The EST Ambas­sad­ors are the link between the EST and the EU’s mem­ber states and offi­cial can­did­ate mem­ber states. They rep­res­ent the EST, pro­mote and organ­ize events loc­ally, write blogs about their country and make sure our net­work is as big as pos­sible.

Lucia Cortesi – Head of the International Office

Born and raised in Italy, Lucia has always been passionate about gender equality, human rights, and fostering international dialogue. Her academic journey, from a BA in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam to an MA in International Relations (European Affairs) at the University of Bologna, has focused on understanding social inequalities and European affairs.

Within EST, she first served as Ambassador to Italy, then as International Officer, and now leads a multicultural team of International Officers and Ambassadors, coordinating international activities and engagement.

Lucia has diplomatic experience through an internship at the Embassy of Italy in Budapest and is actively involved in women’s rights advocacy at UDI Bologna, combining theory and practice in her commitment to social justice and youth empowerment.

Camilla Cialone – International Officer

Raised between Italy and New Zealand, Camilla brings an international perspective that guides her academic and professional journey. After completing a BA in Chinese and Russian for International Relations, she is now in the final year of her master’s degree in Comparative and European Law and is currently on an academic exchange in Brussels.

She is drawn to the evolving relationship between law, technology, and society, particularly within the fields of EU governance, sustainability, and cybersecurity. Her international and multilingual background shapes her commitment to act as a bridge between cultures, young people, and institutions, driving deeper engagement and dialogue across communities.

Gaetano Sicolo- International Officer

Gaetano is a graduate student in Area and Global Studies for International Cooperation at the University of Turin, with research experience in geopolitics, technology, and security.

He has contributed to the Global Network on Extremism and Technology and to the Istituto Analisi Relazioni Internazionali, producing analyses on the implications of digital connectivity, satellite internet and violent extremism in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Manal Mouaid – International Officer

Manal Mouaid is a 24-year-old Italian student, with a Master’s degree in International Relations and European Studies. She is passionate about Euro-Mediterranean affairs, EU foreign policy, and security and defence cooperation. Throughout her academic journey, she has engaged in youth policy, diplomacy, and research.

After a fulfilling year as an EST Ambassador, she now serves as an International Officer at the European Student Think Tank. In this role, she is highly motivated to support the new cohort of Ambassadors, strengthen internal cooperation, and contribute to the organisation’s strategic development.

Giulia Surianello – International Officer

Giulia was born in Italy and, since childhood, has cultivated a strong sense of European citizenship. She developed an early passion for languages as a way to first connect with other cultures.

She graduated in July 2025 from the University of Florence with a BSc in Political Science and International Studies, pursuing an international academic path across France, Portugal, and Italy.

After gaining professional experience and further international exposure, she decided to relocate to the United Kingdom, where she is currently pursuing a Joint MA in Development and Public Policy at the University of Sussex and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS). Alongside her studies, she is acquiring practical experience by engaging in diplomatic work at a Consulate in London.

Her main area of interest lies in the intersection between development and taxation, and she is committed to building a professional career within international organizations focused on sustainable development..

Éva Nagy – International Officer

Éva, originally from Hungary, is a student passionate about the intersection between politics, law, and everyday European life. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in International Studies at Leiden University, where she specialised in Europe, and is now continuing her academic journey with an LLM in European Law in a Global Context at the University of Groningen. She has a genuine curiosity for how the EU works in practice and is excited to approach it from a more legal perspective.

Éva loves learning languages and speaks Hungarian and English, along with some German, Dutch, and Spanish. This is her first year as an International Officer at the European Student Think Tank, a role she is very excited about.
