Event Officers (3 positions)

Are you passionate about European affairs and excited to bring people together through engaging and impactful events? This is your opportunity to play a key role in shaping the activities of the European Student Think Tank (EST) by becoming one of our Event Officers for the 2025/2026 mandate.

As an Event Officer, your primary responsibility will be to design, plan, and deliver events that promote dialogue, learning, and networking within the EST community and beyond. These may include online, hybrid or in-person panel discussions, workshops, conferences, networking sessions, and collaborations with partner organisations. You will work closely with the EST Vice-President for Events and the different departments of the think tank, in order to ensure that events are well-executed, widely promoted, and accessible to a broader audience.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event management, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination — while making a meaningful contribution to EST’s mission of fostering youth participation in European affairs and discussion of EU policy

Main responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, and manage EST events from concept to execution (e.g., webinars, conferences, workshops, and networking activities).
  • Collaborate with Working Groups, Editors, and the Communications Team to ensure events align with EST’s mission and reach a broad audience.
  • Engage with guest speakers, moderators, and partner organisations.
  • Oversee event logistics, including scheduling, platform management (for online events), or venue coordination (for in-person events).
  • Contribute to post-event follow-up such as reports and gathering participant feedback.

Requirements

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Creativity and initiative in designing innovative, interactive events.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage external partners and speakers.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in event management, public relations, or community organising is considered a strong asset.

Communications Team

Are you passionate about communications, design, and digital content? Would you like to be part of a diverse and dynamic team that helps amplify the voice of young Europeans across the continent? Join the Communications Team of the European Student Think Tank (EST) and help shape how we present our ideas, projects, and publications to the world.

As a member of the Comms Team, you will gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital strategy, design, and website management—while working with students and young professionals from across Europe.

We are currently looking for 4 members to join the Team:

🔎 3 Social Media Coordinators: Focus on Content creation (2), Focus on Graphic design (1)

📢 1 Website Coordinator

As a Social Media Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping and executing EST’s digital communication strategy across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok). We are looking for three team members, each with a specific focus area (Content Creation and Graphic Design) but all equally capable of managing a campaign from concept to publication.

All Social Media Coordinators will:

  • Plan and execute communication campaigns (from drafting captions to scheduling posts)
  • Create visually appealing content (using tools like Canva, ClimpChamp, or similar)
  • Collaborate with other team members to promote EST events, publications, and initiatives

Your focus area will define your main strength:

  • Content Creators: You’ll lead on messaging, copywriting, and structuring campaigns. You should also feel confident working with visual tools to bring your content to life.
  • Graphic Designer: You’ll focus on crafting the visual identity of EST’s communications, including social media posts, infographics, website and templates—while still contributing to the overall campaign strategy and messaging.

As Website Coordinator, you will:

  • Maintain and update EST’s WordPress website with blogs, team pages, and publications
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure accurate and timely content publicatio
  • Assist in improving website structure, accessibility, and design (basic knowledge of WordPress/HTML is an asset)

You bring:

  • Interest or background in communications, media, and international relations
  • Creativity, team spirit, and strong organizational skills
  • A good command of English (written and spoken)
  • Experience with social media platforms, design tools (Canva, Adobe), or website management (WordPress) is an asset.

Editors (Editorial Office)

We are searching for new editors who will join our Editorial Office to help us with editing regular website/LinkedIn publications and selected academic articles for our peer-reviewed journal – European Policy Review. You are going to learn editing skills that will help you in the future when you will submit your articles and policy briefs to scientific journals with peer-reviewed publications, so that your text follows the editing guidelines of such journals. Moreover, you will meet other young professionals for you to collaborate in future on similar research projects! You might also learn a lot more about European policies from different perspectives when reading and editing articles of our writers! Finally, editing experience will be very helpful if you are going to apply for work in publishing, social media, and journalism.

Responsibilities:

  1. Edit at least one submitted article each month: text structure, mistakes, text formatting, referencing styles, presence of methods/evidence in an article,
  2. Participate in editing of the European Policy Review submissions,
  3. Join occasional editing tasks of other major EST projects: post-event publications and reports; special policy review publications,
  4. Participate in workshops and seminars that are organized by the EST to teach different editing skills and programs,
  5. Edit submissions from our partners.

Requirements:

  1. Excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of other languages is an advantage,
  2. Time management skills to meet the deadlines,
  3. Communication skills and teamwork,
  4. Prior experience with editing is an advantage, but it’s not compulsory,
  5. Excellent command of Microsoft Word and Google Documents; knowledge of LaTeX and Quarto is an advantage,
  6. Knowledge of various referencing styles is an advantage,
  7. Strong interest in making the voice of youth science and evidence-based research to be heard.

Writers (Editorial Office)

Description: We are looking for new writers at our Editorial Office! You can write about any topic related to European policies, but it should be evidence- and method-based research that is close to the format of an academic article or policy brief. If you join EST, you will be able to publish your research and discuss it with your editor and other young professionals who are interested in your topic! Moreover, you can get to know other authors and collaborate with them in your future projects! Writers at EST also have an opportunity to coordinate their work with our topic-related working groups with vast experience and networking potential!

Responsibilities:

  1. Submit at least one article/review for publication each three months (up to 4 texts per year),
  2. Participate in workshops and seminars that are organized by the EST to teach different research-related skills: searching for literature, working with quantitative/qualitative methods, reasonably incorporating AI,
  3. Contribute with your academic research to the special major projects organized by the EST: European Policy Review, European Policy Prize, conferences, seminars, roundtables,

Requirements:

  1. Excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of other languages is an advantage,
  2. Time management skills to meet the deadlines,
  3. Communication skills and teamwork,
  4. Prior experience in writing academic articles and policy reviews is an advantage,
  5. Demonstrated interest in the research topic that you are going to write about,
  6. Knowledge of different methods of data collection and quantitative/qualitative methods is an advantage,
  7. Excellent command of Microsoft Word and Google Documents; knowledge of LaTeX and Quarto is an advantage,
  8. Strong interest in making the voice of youth science and evidence-based research to be heard.

It can be a published research article, an extract from your Thesis, a published policy brief/review, an extract from your university individual or team project (like an assignment), or any other published (online or in a journal/collection) text that was not written specifically for this application (look below). In general, we expect it to follow one of our major research topics: European politics (any policy sphere), European integration, European foreign policy, national politics (any policy sphere) in European countries. The research at our organization is focused on policy debate, elaboration, implementation, and analysis. Moreover, it is very important that a submitted text has references (sources, data, scientific theories and observations), so this way we know that its information is based on something. Finally, it would be an advantage if it has research methods or produced results, but it is not compulsory.
