Opportunity to gain experience in a thriving and developing team: The EST was founded in 2010 and has been growing over the years. We now have more than 100 members from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds.

A Global Network: The EST is your chance to work closely with an international team of Ambassadors, writers, researchers, editors and creatives from both European and non-European countries, and to form connections based on your common interests.

Skills: Volunteering for the EST will shape and develop a variety of skills, from your ability to communicate in a team and organise around differing commitments, to strengthening your understanding of events’ management, the different publications and writing styles through our training workshops. CV and Recommendation Letter: The EST will look great to an employer, demonstrating a passionate interest in shaping policy and the world around it, and a sustained understanding of international and European affairs! We are more than happy to provide a recommendation letter for our contributors once they finish their terms with us.

Applications for Deputy Editor-in-Chief 2024-2025 OPEN

Are you passionate about Europe? Are you looking to develop organisational and leadership skills?  Then you are in luck because the EST is currently looking for three new Deputy Editors-in-Chief!

As Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the EST you will be responsible for one of the following portfolios:

  1. Editorial Process Management: the day-to-day running of the Editorial Office, organising writers, editors, as well as engaging with other EST departments, including the International Office, the Working Groups and the Communications Team. You will be reviewing articles, coordinating the communication between authors and editors, and ensuring that all publications adhere to EST standards;
  2. European Policy Prize (EPP): the running of the EST’s annual European Policy Prize and collaborating with the EST’s Academic Advisory Board.  You will be in charge of appointing a jury and supporting them in the submissions review.
  3. European Policy Review (EPR): the publishing of the peer-reviewed European Policy Review journal and collaborating with the EST’s Academic Advisory Board. You will be reviewing the submissions, coordinating the communication between authors, editors and peer-reviewers, and ensuring that the EPR adheres to EST standards;

→ All roles will require 5-8 hours per week. The coordination of the Editorial Office will involve around-the-year responsibilities, while the coordination of the EPP will be focused on November to February and the coordination of the EPR will mainly be from March to July.

Optional but an asset: provide examples of previous projects or experience in communications (website design samples, graphic samples or videos samples)

The Call for Applications will be open until 10th of August (23:59 CEST). Applications will be screened on a rolling basis, so you can be contacted for an interview between the end of July and August 2024. If we find suitable candidates before the deadline, the EST reserves the right to close the call earlier.
