Do you know what’s inside your Smartphone or laptop? Do you know that the extraction of minerals composing it could have funded armed groups in countries like Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo or Myanmar, and can be responsible for human rights abuses? By signing the CIDSE campaign against conflict minerals, you can help to stop this: you can put pressure on EU politicians to ask for an effective regulation that will contribute to re-establishing peace!

The EU decided to take action on this and proposed a law aiming to ensure responsible sourcing of minerals by businesses. In May 2015, following strong public pressure, the European Parliament voted in favor of an ambitious and mandatory regulation. But this achievement is now at risk as many EU member States are only proposing a voluntary law, choosing profits before the people.
That is why the campaign aims to keep the pressure up, asking for a law that will contribute to reestablishing peace!
