Small initiatives create big actions. Years ago, Rozemarijn nearly unconsciously decided to approach the world with an open mind. As a consequence, she has been challenging her prior notions about different people ever since. Moreover, she started exploring a part of the world Europeans tend to have many negative stereotypes about: the Middle East in the context of refugees.

In this series of columns Rozemarijn will describe her experiences with learning first-hand about refugees instead of through hearsay or reading. It offers her beautiful insights in how interactions between all different kinds of people – although they may seem insignificant – are powerful and create a world of opportunities.
